Frog Field Farm Spring Newsletter
Hello Everyone!
With the warm weather finally coming, darn that groundhog for making Spring come
so late this year, I thought it would be the perfect time to review the events
of winter and plan for the upcoming riding season. First we need to welcome the
Porter Family, with Basheeba and Senta and Deb James and Vashti who came to
Nutmeg Farms this winter from Angels on Horseback. Thanks to Laura Vita and all
the folks from Angels for the referrals and kind words. Also we welcome Elise
Tyminski and her horse Flynn who came all the way from Bristol, CT and Cindy
LaPointe and Belle new boarders that just arrived at Nutmeg this month.
Congratulations to Sarah Hannah and Gulliver for securing a stall at DeCarli
Farm and we are ALL looking forward to Kobeejo and Christine Church's arrival to
DeCarli's in May.
This winter's schooling show series Hibernation Hiatus, hosted by Frog Field
Farm and Nutmeg Farms, held on Dec 28th and Feb 22nd was so far a really great
success. So much fun, and a super learning experience for all. We welcomed Deb
Moynihan and Ann Marie Gregorie as our judges and they did a terrific job. The
series finale will be held April 26th at Nutmeg Farms and will be judged by
Jackie Potoniac. Stay tuned for the final results and list of the series
Champions. See attachment for series results so far.
Frog Field Farm now at DeCarli Farm on Route 140 in Ellington!
Daryl and Rick DeCarli, owners of DeCarli Farm, have provided us all with a
great opportunity to lesson, lease, and show from their venue as well. Barbara
will be teaching and training from there weekdays and Saturday afternoons this
year. All students are welcome to tour the facility anytime. Please call Daryl
directly for any scheduling at 860-878-9274.
Many of you are ready to ride with in lessons with others. Please discuss your
interest in WEEKLY semi-private, or group lessons with Daryl when you call and
schedule.
Open House and Horse Sale on June 7th to benefit the Theraputic Riding Program
at DeCarli Farm. If you have, or know of anyone with horses currently for sale
please contact Barb via email with a picture, description, price and contact
information for the owner/seller.
Barb@Frogfieldfarm.com We are creating a catalogue for potential buyers with
this information. Each seller must pay a $30 entry fee to benefit the Theraputic
Riding Program accompanied by a copy of their negative coggins certificate for
each sale horse. It is recommended that sellers bring no more than 3 of their
highest quality horses to be shown on the flat, over fences, or in a Dressage
Suitably class, five horses at a time in the ring starting at 9:00am and going
until Noon. Each horse and owner will be assigned a sale number and as each
horse is presented in the ring our announcer will read your description and
announce your contact information. There is no commission fee if your
presentation results in sale. At 1:00pm we will have our Vaulting Demonstration
Fundraiser and presentations on Theraputic Riding.
Summer Camp Schedule. We will be offering 6 weeks of day-camp for riders of all
ages and abilities starting the week of July 6th and running through the second
week of August. See Camp Flyer attached to this email as well. We will also be
hosting some schooling shows and attending many local open, schooling, and rated
shows throughout CT and MA. Please see Barb or Jenn to discuss your show goals
and formulate an itinerary.
KOBEEJO - AVAILABLE FOR "PAY BY THE RIDE" ALL OF APRIL @ NUTMEG FARMS -
Christine Church is very interested in having those of you that love to ride
Kobeejo still use him throughout the month of April. Christine is looking
forward to her move to DeCarlis in May, but until a stall becomes available
there, her and Kobeejo will continue to board at Nutmeg. If you are interested
in taking advantage of this opportunity - and I urge all of you to use him to
practice what you have learned so far - please call Christine at 860-748-9757.
Leaping Lolita Leased:
The Blue Eyed Black Mare that has a special knack for accumulating horse show
ribbons is leased to Kelsey Masterson on Middle Road in Ellington. So she will
be in the neighborhood and with be lessoning and showing with us this summer. I
am so happy to have placed her with a student who will use her and continue her
training throughout this year's show season. Thanks Kelsey and Deann.
Horses for Sale: see sales flyers attached.
I want to personally thank all of you for your continued loyalty and support
throughout my move to DeCarli Farm. It is with the utmost sincerity that I have
to say this move couldn't have come at a better time and I am so happy and
appreciative to be at such a beautiful facility with so many wonderful horses
and with a new employer I truly admire.
Best wishes for a wonderful Spring. See you at the barn,
